Brentford contacted former Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou about replacing Thomas Frank, according to The Athletic.
It is claimed Brentford considered the Australian as an option to succeed Frank, who left to replace Postecoglou at Spurs on a three-year deal this summer.
Brentford director of football Phil Giles reportedly held informal discussions with Postecoglou, but the 59-year-old was not interviewed, as both parties agreed moving forward was not the best option.
The report also claims Brentford considered former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli, who was recently appointed Porto head coach.
The Bees eventually appointed Keith Andrews as Frank's successor after the ex-Republic of Ireland international was promoted from his role as set-piece coach.
