By popular opinion in Nigeria, the fact that someone from the southeast speaks igbo, the southwest speaks yoruba and the north speak hausa and all don't understand one another, create this disparity and disconnect.
Using the pidgin language which is easily understandable and can be spoken by anyone from any of the regions of the country has being touted as being the connecting bridge for everyone to feel as one but the fact that English which was imposed by the British, the colonial masters is still used as the official language is one of the problems bedevling the country.
While alot of illetrate can't speak it, some indegenes don't understand it and still communicate in their local dialect.
Others also see education as a waste of time when they can farm, eat, and give birth and die easily without the problems of having too much wealth to share after their demise like the educated rich man, a creation of the British Colonial Imposition.
