My Thought for Today
The past few days have been heavy. My family is once again walking through the aftermath of a suicide attempt—this time by a loved one whose pain runs deep. Her story is all too familiar: childhood trauma, early motherhood, witnessing her sister fall victim to sex trafficking, and a mother who, for reasons unknown, couldn’t offer the love and protection she needed. The weight she carries is immense.
This hits close to home for me. Like so many of us, I’ve known what it means to grow up without real support—used by others, trapped between survival and dreams, trying to build something meaningful in a world that often overlooks Black excellence. I’ve poured my energy into creating quality Black-owned products and services, only to face indifference from the very community I’m trying to uplift. And still, I push forward—because giving up isn’t an option.
For those of us committed to real social and economic change, the path is steep—especially without capital, mentorship, or a safety net. But our ancestors didn’t survive so we could surrender. Their resilience lives in us. We must draw from that strength, even when it feels like no one sees our struggle or believes in our vision.
That’s why I created the Brotherhood Room—a safe, supportive space for Black men on Blaqsbi. And now, I’m building a sister space for Black women: a sanctuary for healing, connection, and mutual uplift. But I can’t do it alone.
If you care—or if you’re hurting and need support—please join us. Together, we can be the village we never had.
