The informed individual understands that poverty and inequality are the root causes of most crimes—not a lack of policing. Despite decades of expanding police forces, crime rates have persisted, and the United States now holds the largest prison population in the world.

Today’s administration, like those before it—from Nixon to Obama and beyond—speaks of “law and order” and the “rule of law,” yet routinely disregards constitutional principles while waging systemic war against non-European communities. This includes Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized populations at home, as well as oppressed peoples abroad who are impacted by U.S. foreign policy, economic exploitation, and militarized intervention.

Since the end of Reconstruction, every administration has upheld a version of governance that functions as a police state—targeting those deemed undesirable or expendable. This empire invests more in domestic policing than nearly every other nation spends on its military—surpassed only by a few. And with the rise of the military-industrial-prison complex, urban communities of color are increasingly subjected to militarized enforcement, surveillance, and intimidation.

But there is a better way forward. To truly reduce crime and uplift communities—both at home and abroad—we must invest in life, not punishment. Solutions include:

- 🏘️ Universal access to housing: Safe, stable shelter is a human right. Ending homelessness and housing insecurity reduces desperation and strengthens community bonds.
- 📚 Free, quality education: From early childhood to college, education must be accessible and empowering—especially in underserved areas and formerly colonized nations.
- 💼 Living-wage employment and cooperative economics: Job creation, worker-owned businesses, and local investment build dignity and reduce economic vulnerability.
- 🥗 Holistic health care and mental wellness: Physical and mental health services must be community-based, culturally competent, and preventative—not reactive.
- 💰 Sound money and financial literacy: Empowering families with tools like physical gold and silver savings fosters long-term stability and generational wealth.
- 🎨 Creative expression and cultural restoration: Art, music, and storytelling heal trauma, build pride, and reconnect communities to their legacy.
- 🕊️ Community-led peacekeeping and restorative justice: Replace punitive systems with models that prioritize healing, accountability, and reconciliation.
- 🌐 Global solidarity and reparative justice: Support movements for sovereignty, reparations, and self-determination across the Global South and Indigenous nations. #sovereignty #Uhuru #Nguvu
