Chapter ❤️ 45

MORNING (XIYANG’S MANOR)

Aria ~

I almost spent the entire night awake, my eyes glued to the door, my heart counting every second.

Waiting for Xiyang.

But he never came.

I wondered what could have made him so busy…

So busy that he didn’t even send someone to inform me of the situation.

Now, I only had one d4y left.

Tomorrow…

Might be my l4st day in the mortal realm.

Maybe Xiyang couldn’t find any evidence against Liu-Qing.

Maybe that was why he was avoiding me.

My chest tightened at the thought.

Knock! Knock!

I heard a gentle knock on the door.

“Xiyang…” I exclaimed, standing up eagerly as I rushed to open it.

“My lady… I missed you so much!” Celeste cr!ed, throwing her arms around me tightly.

I fr0ze for a second.

I was expecting Xiyang…

But seeing Celeste still warmed my heart.

“I missed you too, Celeste. How have you been?” I asked as she released the hug.

“I’m doing well, my lady. No need to worry,” she replied softly, walking into the room.

I closed the door and sat beside her.

“How are you doing?” she asked, her eyes already filling with téars.

“Prince Yìchén told me what happened to you…”

“He did?” I asked in surprise.

“Yes. When he found out you’ve been staying in your room, he sent me here to keep you company,” she explained.

“I thought he h4ted me now… thinking I húrt his mother.”

“He trusts you,” Celeste said gently.

“He believes you’re innocent. He really likes you… a lot.”

“Stop it, Celeste. Let’s not talk about this,” I cut her off.

“Okay… then tell me this,” she suddenly raised her voice.

“How are you planning to escape this? Are you just going to let yourself get k!lled?”

“Prince Xiyang is working on it,” I replied.

“I believe he’ll find proof that I’m innocent.”

“And what if he fails?” she asked, her voice trem bling.

I couldn't answer her…

I had no answer.

“Why don’t you just tell everyone the truth?” she grabbed my hands desperately.

“Tell them you’re Princess Mingyue. With your identity, no one would dare touch you!”

“No, Celeste… we can’t do that,” I said firmly.

“And why not?!” she scr£4med.

“You always say you have your reasons, and I respect that,” she cr!ed.

“But now this is about l!fe and d34th! What’s so important that you’d give up your l!fe for it?!”

“The whole world, Celeste…”

“Your life… everyone’s life…” I thought.

But I couldn’t say it aloud.

T34rs spilled from my eyes as her words crúshed my heart.

“Please understand me,” I said softly.

“I can’t let Yìchén know that I’m his
supposed bride.”

“Then forgive me,” she stood abruptly, walking toward the door.

“Because I’m telling him the truth.”

“NO, CELESTE!” I grabbed her legs desperately.

“You can’t do that! Please listen to me! I said no…you have to respect that!” I scr£amed.

“Then tell me why!” she br0ke down.

“Prince Yìchén loves you so much. Why are you húrting him…and yourself? Do you think it’s easy?”

She sobbed uncontrollably.

“Do you think it’s easy watching you d!e? I can’t bear it… I can’t!”

“Celeste…” I hugged her tightly.

“I understand you,” I whispered.

“But trust me… nothing will happen to me. I trust Prince Xiyang.”

“Fine,” she wiped her téars.

“But if by tomorrow Prince Xiyang can’t prove your innocence… I won’t stop myself.”

She ran out.

“Celeste…!” I called, but she didn’t turn back.

“Why…?” my voice cra¢ked as I coll4psed.

Why did destiny choose me to suffer…and drag others into it?

I wished my trial would just end.

That I could return to the heavenly realm… defeat Lucifer… and end everything.

But…

What about Xiyang?

What about the man my heart beats for?

I'm not asking for much.

I Just want to remain in his arms… until my days here are over.

After cry!ng myself dry, I took a shower and changed into my sleeping dress.

Xiyang still hadn’t come.

“Did he… abandon me?” I whispered.

“No… no,” I slapped my mouth lightly.

“He would never.”

“Maybe I should check on him?” I wondered.

“No. He told me to stay in my room,” I sighed, sitting on the bed.

“But I can’t sleep…” I winced.

“Let me just check if he’s asleep or not,” I muttered.

I opened the door abruptly…

And crashed straight into Xiyang.

I lost my balance and fell into his arms.

Our eyes locked.

This time, there was no hatred…No disgust.

Instead… something unfamiliar yet somehow familiar.

The same look he gave me when we first met.

“Are you okay?” he asked softly.

“Oh…yes! I’m sorry,” I stood upright quickly.

“Where were you going?” he asked.

“I thought I told you to stay in your room.” he added.

“I…..” I turned away and sat on my bed.

He followed and sat beside me.

“I was bored so… so…” I stammered.

“So…?” he raised an eyebrow.

“So I thought of watching the moon,” I l!ed.

“It’s full tonight… and beautiful.”

“I don’t know if I’ll see it again after tomorrow.” My voice dropped.

“You will,” he smiled gently.

“You’ll have many more full moons to witness.”

“Really?” I searched his eyes.

“Come to my room,” he said, taking my hand.
“I have something for you.”

Inside his room, he handed me a package.

“This is for you.”

“For me?” I unboxed it carefully.

“Woah…” I gasped.

A beautiful fairy-yellow dress lay inside…gold embroidery shimmering softly.

Matching shoes…. A veil Accessories.

“It’s beautiful…” I whispered in awe.

“Wear it tomorrow morning for your court hearing,” he said.

“What?!... Why do I need to dress like this for Court hearing?... Don't tell me you're fulfilling a dy!ng person’s wish?” I exclaimed. Covering my mouth dramatically.

“You're not serious.” He laughed.

“Tomorrow… I have a surprise for you.” she added softly.

“A surprise!!" I exclamed.

“ Can you hint me?” I asked eagerly.

He leaned close, his breath brushing my ear.

“No,” he whispered.

“You should sleep. Tomorrow will be long.”

I nodded, and exit the room with my package.

I know Xiyang had find a Way to save me..but he wants to keep it as a surprise.

My relationship with him had completely changed this past few days.

He no longer treats me like his maid..

I think it's time…

It's time for me to tell him how I feel about him.

Human life is short… I better cherish every second.

So Tomorrow… after everything… i would tell him that…

That I love him.

Weather he will accept me or not… I'll no longer keep this feeling to myself.

Xiyang ~

After Aria left, I went into my secret room.

I haven't visited this room often this past few days.

Before… I used to visit it everyday before going to sleep.

But since Aria came into my life…. She seems to be changing things about me.

I don't know why I'm attracted to her..

It's not like she is some kind of beauty… but there is something that attracts me to her.

It's like there is a power that is connecting us but I can't understand

I carried a piece of clothes and clean my angel’s portrait gently and sat in front of it.

“I'm sorry my angel… I didn't came to see you for days. Do you…miss me?” I asked.

“You know …” I continued.

“When you first fall into my arms.. the world stops moving.

I still remember your breathtaking appearance, your smile, how you foolishly ate that noodles…” I chuckled.

“ I still remember every moment we shared…every single moment.” My voice dropped as teàrs began to fill my eyes.

“It's so unfortunate that I lost you…without even getting to know your name.” A drop of téars escape my eyes.

“I couldn't believe you're gone… I waited for you for years, but you never showed up.”

“Then Aria came into my life, she seems to be filling the void you left in my heart.” I wipe my tears.

“Since the first day I saw her…she keeps reminding me of you.”

“I kept avoiding her intentionally, I refuse to see behind those veils… and keep calling her ungly… just so that I won't be drawn to her.”

“But it's all useless… I couldn't fight my heart." I cr!ed.

“Tell me my Angel…. Would you blame me if I choose to move on?" I whispered.

The room went silent…

Suddenly, the windows open and a heavy wind began to enter.

I immediately stood and walk to close it.

Just as I was about to shut it…my eyes drifted to Aria’s room.

Her light was on and I see her from the transparent wall hugging the dress i gave her.

I smiled staring at her…

Soon, she blow off her candles and the place turn dark.

I close the window and turn back to the portrait.

“Is this… your answer to me?” I smiled weakly.

I carried a white piece of clothes and went in front of the portrait.

“Tomorrow… after I've exposed Liu-Qing, I will proposed to Aria. I'll tell everyone how much I love her and ask Dad to give us his blessings.” I said as I wrapped the clothes on top the portrait covering it.

“ I'm sorry…. My Angel.” I whispered.

I have finally decided to move on from the past.

I'll start a new life with Aria by my side.

I'm going to love her…and only her.

To be continued…
